Truth to the Question "And.. Why Are You Still Single?" Answered Individually by Women

13 Feb 2019

Happy Valentines Day For Tomorrow
First and foremost I hope it's a good day whether you're celebrating love with a friend, partner or most importantly yourself there's a question I'm sure we've all been asked.

Roughly a month ago after being asked this question, I pondered after being put on the spot how to reply and as I nervously laughed I simply answered because I want to be which is why I decided to ask women on Facebook to complete the question so many of us are asked on a daily basis.

The aim of this you may wonder is to let women be who they want to be. We don't need to justify ourselves, explain or share our personal reasons and actions to anyone yet we feel inflicted to when asked and this spotlight comes above our head. Let's be honest is a man generally asked this?

Have you ever been asked why you're married? why you're in a relationship? NO? Then why ask the question.... "And... why are you still single?"

I'm still single because it's the first time I've felt fully in control of my emotions and who I am becoming. There's a lot of pressure on people (women especially) to meet the perfect man, fall in love and raise children but life is so much better when you can love yourself and grow into the person you want to be rather than what everyone else wants.

This is a question I get asked more than I realise! I guess I am still single for a number of reasons. Mainly, I find that in my day-to-day life, although I go to work, have various hobbies and regularly attend local events, I don't actually meet many guys. Also, in some ways, because I keep myself so busy, I don't have a lot of spare time to meet new blokes. However, I have used dating apps, but although they can be entertaining, I feel it can be quite difficult to find real-life matches there. As they are free apps, a lot of people do not take them seriously or use the apps regularly or are just on there to see if their mates are using them. Not to mention catfishes! In addition, there have been a couple of scenarios where I have met people from Tinder and gone on dates, although they are kind, decent and attractive, I just haven't 'clicked' with them. I believe that everything happens for a reason, and I think for me, it just isn't 'my time' yet, but maybe fate will change things at some point! I wouldn't say being single is bad, though. I have a lot more free time to exercise, relax, and socialise with friends and family, which I wouldn't have if I was in a relationship. I have a lot of freedom and don't have to make many compromises. It is also exciting to know that anything could potentially be around the corner!

I'm single as I'm not ready for a relationship. Valentines looks a little different from a year ago, what I set out to be a romantic and fun idea ended up with me in tears in a continuous abusive cycle. I made pancakes into hearts then added little chocolate hearts. However, my ex picked up the breakfast and crumpled it over my head proceeding to tell me I was fat, stupid and had wasted his food. So this Valentines Voluptuous Chatterbox? I'm single but not alone like I was then. Now? I'm celebrating myself and learning to move on from toxic relationships and people. I'm having fun and enjoying life but when asked this question? I feel intimidated and it's not fair to ask because no one knows my story.

Diagnosed with breast cancer at 39. Followed by mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. Deemed too large to gave reconstructive surgery I went into my 40's as a very different person. I was in a relationship at the time which unfortunately didn't work out but since then confidence has stopped me forging new relationships.

hi, why am I still single....good question. I am a single mum to 2 girls from 2 dad's. Neither of them see their dad's, not that I have stopped them. I used to have a romantic idea of being in a committed relationship but I'd say my experience of men and relationships has put me off. Don't get me wrong I am attempting to date and I do flirt with men but as soon as they say or do something I dont like or don't believe my hackles go up and their days are numbered. I have been engaged twice and lived with 3 men since I was 18 and my longest relationship was 6 yrs. But honestly, the thought of sharing my bed and my life with a man on a permanent basis gives me a feeling of dread.
